Tobi - June 2014
Tobi has been one of the best additions to our 2A family. She shows up 5-6 days a week with a smile on her face and always ready to tackle the WOD.
Her strength has come leaps and bounds since staring with us. When she first started she couldn't even do a push up and now she is doing pull-ups unassisted!
I love coaching their whole family, they are such fun and positive people and are always willing to work hard! I can't wait to see what the future holds for Tobi and her family here at CF2A.
What led you to CrossFit 2A?
What led me to CrossFit2A was the opportunity to try something new. I have always been an active person and have done some type of exercise daily. We moved to Concord in September 2013 and I was stuck in a rut, basically just running everyday and was tired of it. I wanted a new workout. One that I could also meet new people. I'm grateful everyday that I came across CrossFit 2A. I have pushed myself further than I thought possible and met the most incredible group of people whom I consider my friends.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
The biggest changes I've seen in myself are almost too many to list. I have more energy, stamina, strength, endurance and confidence to list a few. I would say one of the biggest changes is in how I see myself. I have always been very hard on myself and tried to make sure I was "skinny enough." For the first time in my adult life I really don't care if I'm skinny. I want to be strong! I want to push my body to it's limits and see what I can do on a daily basis. This at times becomes an internal struggle, but 99.9% of the time the strong wins.
What are your goals going forward and what do you think will help you achieve them?
My goals going forward with CrossFit are pretty simple. I want to get better everyday. Maybe it's getting better at the gymnastics moves, lifting heavier weights, doing more reps or getting better with my technique. I just want to keep improving. I know that I will achieve these goals with the help of my coaches and my fellow CrossFitters. They are continually supporting me and offering insights and instruction on how to improve in all areas of CrossFit.
How has CrossFit 2A helped you in your day to day life?
CrossFit2A has helped in my daily life significantly. I'm a 40+ stay at home mom of 4 kids. CrossFit has helped me to be a better mother and wife. I find I'm more patient at home and have more energy to keep up with 4 kids schedules. My husband and 3 of my kids have also joined CrossFit2A and we love talking about what the WOD was today or how we've gotten stronger, faster or better at something. My husband and I particularly enjoy being able to workout together and encourage each other.
What would you recommend to someone who is just starting out with CrossFit or is too afraid to try it?
What I would recommend to someone who's just starting out or is too afraid to try CrossFit is to just come and give it a try. You might surprise yourself. At Crossfit2A we have the BEST coaches. They want you to succeed for the long haul. They will teach you how to do things right. It's not about how heavy can you go in the first months, it's about making small steps forward. I was hooked after my first day and that is saying a lot as I think I did over 100 wall balls that day. I think anyone who is starting out will surprise themselves with how fun CrossFit is and how empowering it is to see what your body can do. Mine has done way more than I ever thought it could.
Any other comments about your experience and transformation?
My experience at CrossFit2A has been life changing, because of CrossFit2A I am a better version of myself in so many ways. I think it all starts with the coaches. They are well trained, intelligent, patient and encouraging. They set the tone for the box which is community. At CrossFit2A I have met people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. The common thread is that we all care for one another, respect one another and genuinely want each other to succeed. I think it's rare to find a place like that now a days. CrossFit2A is a tight community and I'm so thankful that they've welcomed me and my family into it.
